"Taking a private jet to hold out a tin cup"

Detroit wants the government to give them a handout after destroying rail travel, public transportation and the first electric cars.  Along with creating an awful roadway system in the concrete parking lot otherwise known as the greater Los Angeles area and making disastrous business decisions, they then fly to Washington in their private jets and asked for money to save their asses.  Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me jokes that 'the last time the president of Ford tried to drive to Washington, he broke down in Pittsburgh and was stuck there for 3 days'

We can't continue to save businesses like this, particularly ones who are almost certain to repeat their own failures.  This will not only promote dependence on foreign oil, but on petroleum products and unsustainable business practices in general.  

Let's take this viewpoint and distribute bailout money to the industry employees and then use the rest to work on building sustainable efficient railway and public transportation industry.  I know old habits die hard, but otherwise we'll run ourselves into the ground.
